MEC invited us back again this year to the Bikefest so we decided to bring back HUB's Learn2Ride program and offer free safety courses for kids between the ages of 8 - 12.
We applied for a grant through the City of Langley Community Grant Program and received partial funding to provide trained cycling instructors from HUB's Learn2Ride program at the 2017 MEC Langley Bikefest. The instructors will host a shorter version of the Learn2Ride program taught to grades 2-5 in schools throughout the Metro Vancouver area for up to 60 children aged 8 to 12 at this year's Bikefest.
Learn2Ride utilizes a simulated environment that is free from traffic to teach basic bicycle and traffic safety skills. It is an interactive experience for children, focusing on having fun while demonstrating the importance of staying safe while riding.
MEC Langley has provided us with an area to host the program and has added us in their advertising support for the event. Envision Financial has provided us with the free use of a popcorn machine, including all the popcorn and popcorn bags we need for the entire day.
